The family owned business of Hauraton GmbH & Co based in Rastatt Germany seemingly goes from strength to strength. They currently employ around 320 staff and around 70% of production of their surface drainage solution products go for export to over 50 countries.

Rudiger Simonis, senior export manager commented “ we design, manufacture and distribute and while our product range and sales in our four core target markets of Civils, Landscaping, Aqua and Sport have steadily increased and we currently have nineteen European subsidiaries, we are continually looking for more partners in more countries and our marketing plan includes further UK growth and expansion.

Our profile and market share is excellent in Europe and we are continually involved with high profile prestigious projects such as Heathrow Terminal 5, the Emirates Stadium and the formula 1 circuit in Bahrein.

We are the only surface drainage solutions business offering products in both re-enforced concrete and recycled PE-PP. Recycled products now represent approximately 70% of our turnover”.

Tim continued “we are continually looking at and expanding our range of products and providing solutions into new markets. Our sports stadia products for pitch side and track drainage have developed into a key element of the range and now represent a growing percentage of overall turnover. We worked very closely with the City of Manchester on the Commonwealth Games Stadia. Another example is the development of our cable carrying product with ‘click down cover’. In 2007 Hauraton sold 1056 miles of channel products into the UK”

Originally conceived in the mid 1970’s, Hauraton claim their innovative Faserfix® fibre reinforced concrete surface water drainage channels and trash boxes are still a very popular specification with many civil engineers. Featuring metal protection along their top edges, not only does this detail provide exceptional wear resistance and Rudiger Tim increased load bearing capability, the components are so strong, even prior to installation they are able to endure the rigours of building sites.

The sizes offered range from 100mm internal channel width up to 500mm. The 100, 150, and 200mm sizes are available with a level invent or a built-in fall. Level invent is offered with the 300, 400 and 500mm units.

All Faserfix channels and trash boxes are normally supplied with the company’s Sidelock®, patented boltless gratings which allow easy access to the channel run for cleaning.

Once a grating is positioned on the channel, foot pressure is simply applied, a loud click is heard which confirms the grating is securely locked. It can only be removed using a large screwdriver inserted into a discreet leverage point. In practice each Sidelock grating can be removed in 15 seconds to allow access, and then, after channel cleaning, replaced in less than 30 seconds - 90% quicker than other fixing methods. Complying with all load categories, Sidelock gratings are available in ductile iron with standard width or heel-safe slots and Gugi mesh pattern. Galvanised slotted and mesh steel gratings are also offered. In addition, bolt fixings can be included where circumstances or legislation demands.
